Review boxes

The Review boxes section is where you can create advanced review boxes and choose on which products to show them.

The plugin includes a default review box (General) that cannot be disabled or deleted. However, it is possible to edit it. This box will show in all the products of your store.

Now, we will see how to create a new review box, taking advantage of the possibility to show it on specific products, categories, tags, and all virtual products.

Click on the Add new button first.

Enter a name to identify the box and select where to show it by using the Show on option.

By choosing specific products, categories or tags, you will be able to select them in the dedicated option.

Multi-criteria

The multi-criteria option allows you to show one or more criteria to be rated from those you have created (learn how to create them on this page). This option allows users to evaluate different aspects of the products, providing you with a more in-depth view of strengths and/or weaknesses that you can use to your benefit.

By leaving the option disabled, the default WooCommerce rating system will be used.

What to show

Finally, through the last settings, you can decide what to show in the review box by selecting one or more of the following options:

• Average rating box
• Graph bars
• Sorting options
• Vote reviews as helpful
• Most helpful reviews tab

Below is an example of the review box showing all the options.

This section, which you can find in Review boxes > Review criteria, is where you can create rating criteria for your products. This will allow users to provide more detailed evaluation, similar to what you find when leaving a review for a hotel room, where users can rate various aspects of the booking, such as location, cleanliness, staff, and services offered. This feature can now be expanded to any product in your shop. Here’s how you can take advantage of it.

Go to Review Boxes > Review criteria and click on the Add criteria button.

Now, from the modal window, set the criterion name and, optionally, upload an icon.

There is no limit on the number of criteria you can create. After creating them, they will show in the table where it is also possible to search them through the search field.

Each criterion can be deleted or edited by clicking on the specific icons shown on mouse hover.

Priority

When more review boxes are active, they will show based on the following default priority:

1. Virtual products
2. Specific products
3. Specific categories
4. Specific tags
5. All products

Now, let’s see how to show a review box with multi-criteria for a specific product, keeping in mind that the same procedure can be used for specific categories and tags.

Suppose you have a new apartment that you want to rent out during the summer, and you want your guests to be able to rate different aspects of the apartment after their stay to get general feedback. You then decide to create the following criteria:

• Cleanliness
• Position
• Services
• Staff

After creating your criteria as described on this page, go to the Review boxes section and add a new review box.

Enter a name for the Review box so that it can be easily identified among the others, select the specific product (in this case, the apartment) on which this Review box will show, enable the multi-criteria option, and add the four criteria you have created. Finally, select what to show in the Review box and save.

Users can now rate every criterion when leaving a review for the apartment. This is what they will see in the review form.
