Pending reviews

By default, all reviews left by users require the admin’s approval before being published and visible on the products. You can change this behavior by automatically approving reviews in Settings > General options, yet, we now analyze how to manage pending reviews.

Go to Main overview > All reviews and click on Pending.

Here, you will get an overview of all the reviews, ordered by date, that need the admin’s approval.

You can either approve pending reviews one by one by clicking on the related one in the column Product or massively through a bulk action.

Approve a single review

After clicking on the review, you can check its content and all the other details from the edit page. The approval can be easily performed by selecting Approve in the review actions or by changing the status in the Review status metabox. Select the status you want to apply and click on Update review.

Approve multiple reviews

To quickly approve more pending reviews, you can take advantage of the bulk action. Select the reviews, choose Approve, and click on Apply.

From the table, you can also manage each review by performing the following actions:

  • View/Edit: by choosing the action View/Edit, you will access the review edit page where you can update the status and change the following options:
    • Review title (optional): this is the text shown as the review title;
    • Review content: this is the text of the review posted by user;
    • Rating: this is the rating selected by the user (from 1 to 5 stars);
    • Set as helpful: enable this option to show the review in the “Most helpful reviews” tab, when enabled in the Review boxes settings;
    • Set as featured: enable this option to show the review before all the others;
    • Block replies: enable this option to prevent other users from replying to the review;
    • Block review editing: enable this option to prevent the user from editing the review;
    • User: these are the details of the user who posted the review;
    • Name: the name of the user;
    • Email: the email address of the user;
    • Custom avatar: the avatar of the user;
    • Review files: the files attached to the review;
  • Reply: complete the review form options to reply to the review. In the Review info metabox, you can see the product to which you are replying. To publish your reply, select the status Approved and click on Save review;

  • View product: this action redirects to the product edit page, where you can apply changes to the reviewed product if needed;
  • Approve: select this action to approve the review;
  • Move to trash: select this action to move the review to trash.

Reported reviews

All reviews reported by users as inappropriate are added to the All reviews table and can be checked in the tab Reported.

All reviews posted by users are added to the All reviews table. To check the approved ones, go to the tab Approved.

Spam

To avoid spam comments, we recommend enabling the Google reCAPTCHA option (go to this page for further details).

To manage spam reviews, go to Main overview > All reviews and click on Spam.

Email actions on orders

The following features are available only if the Review reminder module is enabled. Go to this page to learn more about this module.

Despite the email-sending system being automated, by accessing the Orders page or the order edit page, you can manually perform one of the following actions using the dedicated buttons/links you find on the right of the page under the column Review reminder:

  • send a new request
  • schedule request
  • delete.

Send a new reminder

The plugin shows the date when the request was sent. If you want to send a new reminder email to the customer, click on Send a new request.

In the popup, choose to immediately send the email or schedule it for a specific date.

Schedule request

If you need to schedule email sending for orders for which no email was sent or if you want to force the sending before the order is set to Completed, you can take advantage of the Send request option.

A popup will open by clicking on the button, and you can send the email right away or schedule the sending for a specific date.

Delete

If, for any reason, you want to cancel a scheduled email sending, you can easily do it by clicking on Delete and confirming the action from the popup.

If the customer does not agree to receive reminder emails during the checkout process, a notice will be shown in the order.

For orders not yet completed for which products cannot be reviewed, the following notice will be shown.

Bulk actions

The actions described above can also be performed massively directly from the Orders page. Select orders and choose the action you want to apply from the drop-down of WordPress bulk actions.
