Getting started with the premium version

The premium version of YITH WooCommerce Cart Messages allows creating custom messages to show in the product, “Shop”, “Cart” and “Checkout” pages.
The messages can be shown always or only when specific products have been added to cart.

To enable/disable the messages on your site pages, go to YITH > Cart Messages > Settings.

To create a new message go to YITH > Cart MessagesĀ and click onĀ Add new message.

Based on the message type, you can find some of the following settings:

  • required quantity: is required for the correct view of the message and it informs users about the difference between the quantity of the specified product currently in the cart, and the requested quantity for the fulfillment of the offer that you can offer.
  • threshold amount: the minimum quantity of the product that users have to add to their cart to view the message you have written
  • choose a custom layout: layout to associate to the message, choosing from the 6 that you can customize in the “Layouts” section of the plugin settings dashboard.
  • button text/button url: these fields are optional. Add text in the Button text field if you want to show a button to the users to catch their attention for an action. If the field is empty, no button will be showed. In the Button URL field, you can add the link to which you want users to be redirected after the click
  • Exclude coupons amount: (from “Minimum Amount” messages type) if enabled, the control is applied on the total cart amount, except for the coupons value
  • show to: users to which show the created message
    • logged users
    • unlogged users
    • all the users
  • start date: first day to show the message
  • expiration date: last day to show the message
  • show in: pages on which show the message

“Products in cart” message type

This type of message is shown only when the user added to the cart at least one of the products you selected in the “Select Products” entry.

Suppose you provide a discount for a specific product quantity selected, you can take advantage of the available placeholders to notify the user through the message you have created.

  • {remaining_amount}: it indicates the remaining amount to reach the minimum order amount;
  • {products}: it specifies which of the listed products is in the cart;
  • {required_quantity}: it states the exact number of the products to purchase;
  • {user_name}:

In the example, we want to notify our customers about the free shipping option we offer for the purchase of 10 Slim fit T-Shirts. We want to show the message from the first T-shirt added to cart.

To do it, we need to select the Slim fit T-Shirts product for the message and set the values as follows:
required quantity: 10
threshold amount: 1

Message - Cart page

“Categories in cart” message type

The “Categories in cart” message type is shown only when at least one of the products in the cart belongs to one of the selected categories (in the example the category is “Shoes & Bags”).

You can edit the message using the following placeholders {categories} to state the list of categories.

  • {categories}: list of categories
  • {user_name}:

“Simple” message type

The “Simple message” message type is always shown in the Cart and/or Checkout pages.

You can insert an optional button and set an expiration for the message.

“Minimum amount” message type

This message type is shown only when the cart reached the threshold amount you inserted in the “Threshold amount” entry.

Supposing you provided an offer when reaching the threshold amount, you can consider encouraging the users by showing them the amount required to take advantage of that offer.
The amount can be shown by inserting the {remaining_amount} placeholder in the message body.

By using the placeholder {user_name} you can enter in a message the username user. It can only be shown in the case in which the user is logged.

Minimum amount message

Basing on our example, the amount of $35 is given by the difference between the value specified in the “Minimum order amount” entry (100$) and the cart total amount (65$)

The message isn’t shown if at least one of the products in “Hide the message if these products are in cart” (if specified) is added to cart.

“Deadline” message type

The “Deadline” message type can be used to notify the user of the time remaining before an active offer on your site expires.
Follow these essential steps to configure this message type in the correct way.

  1. insert the message text by taking advantage of the “{time_remain}” placeholder that allows showing the time remaining before the expiration
  2. specificy the daily deadline of the message through the “Deadline hour” entry, considering the message will start to be shown from midnight until the specified time.
  3. specificy the days on which you want to show the message

Let’s make an example. We want to show the message on Monday and Tuesday until 16:00. The values have to be set as follows

  • Deadline hour: 16
  • Deadline days: Monday, Tuesday

Supposing to view the message on Monday at 15.19, it will be shown as follows.

“Referrer” message type

The “Referrer” message type is shown only when the users reach the site through the link you have specified in “Referrer url”.

There are 6 available message layouts that can be customized in YITH > Cart Messages > Layouts.

You can choose what layout to use for each message.
