The Polygon Documentation
Installing The Polygon
1. Download WordpressBack to top
The Polygon is a WordPress theme, so make sure you have already installed WordPress 4.2.x or higher. If you haven’t yet, go to wordpress.org and you'll be able to download it free. Follow WordPress installation instructions.
2. Download The PolygonBack to top
Download The Polygon from your YIThemes account, in "Downloads" page and save it in your
desktop. This is how the file will look like.
*Note – This IS NOT the file you have to upload to your WordPress installation. The file you need must be UNZIPPED before uploading.
3. Unzip the downloaded themeBack to top
UNZIP the downloaded file. You can use a zip program or you can just CLICK TWICE
on the folder icon to show contents in it. You'll find two zip files: "plugins" and "theme".
Get 'plugins' directory from yithemes package, put it into directory "plugins" of your WordPress installation of the theme.
In yithemes package you'll find the zip package of the theme: the-polygon.zip.
Unzip the-polygon.zip. THIS IS THE FOLDER YOU WILL UPLOAD to your WordPress Theme.
4. Upload The Polygon ThemeBack to top
UPLOAD The Polygon file. You can do this one in two different ways:
a. Via WordPress – Log into your WordPress site.
When you get to your dashboard, scroll down the left sidebar to the Appearance and hover or click on Appearance. You will immediately see a drop-down list like the one in the image below:
Click on “Themes” and then on “Add New”.
Than click on “Upload Theme” and this is what you will see.
Now you are ready to upload the The Polygon file that you unzipped before. Click on “Browse” and recover The Polygon file from your desktop.
Select The Polygon file, then click on “open”. The file name will appear in the browse box.
Click on “install now” and wait for installation message. *Note: The installation will probably take a few minutes, so please be patient.
When the installation is finished, you should see this:
Below the words “Theme installed successfully,” you will see an option that allows you to activate the theme immediately, by clicking on "Activate" button. Alternatively, you can navigate back to “Appearance” to activate The Polygon: click on “Themes”, and there you will see all your themes, including The Polygon.
Click on The Polygon icon and then “Save and Activate”. You'll see a screen like the following:
*Note - installation of recommended plugins is not necessary for the theme to work correctly.
Now you are ready to go to Step Two.
Before you move to Step 2, let’s take a detour. Maybe you prefer to upload your new The Polygon files via FTP instead of WordPress. What would you do? Follow these instructions:
b. Uploading Via Filezilla (SKIP THIS STEP if you have already successfully installed your The Polygon theme via WordPress) - Now you will learn how to upload your files using Filezilla client.
First of all, BACKUP YOUR FILES! This is always the safest thing to do.
Next, download and install Filezilla Client - http://filezilla-project.org/
Now OPEN FILEZILLA and you will see this screen:
Enter your FTP Credentials, like in the image shown below:
Now, click on “QUICKCONNECT” and Filezilla will load your website. This is how it will look like:
Now, use the right side panel to navigate to your "themes" folder. In the example above, the theme folder is public_html/wp-content/themes/, however, not all web hosting have public_html, it might slightly different in your server.
After your themes/ folder has been opened, use the left side panel to navigate to the place where you have extracted the theme folder. In this example, the extracted theme folder is on the desktop.
Drag the extracted theme folder into your web hosting:
**Note – you may be asked if you want to overwrite files and/or folder. Check the option "Always use this action" and click on "Ok.” Then, wait until all files are uploaded.
That's all there is to it!
c. Via IE (Internet Explorer) FTP: (SKIP THIS STEP if you have already successfully installed your The Polygon theme via WordPress)
If you prefer uploading your The Polygon files via Internet Explorer “ftp” you have to use a slightly different method.
First of all, open a browser and type your ftp address into the address bar (see image).
You will see a popup like this, where you are required username and password to open your ftp files.
Once entered correct username and password, your browser window will open to show your ftp root files (See below). Click on “Page” in the right side of the navigation bar. A dropdown menu will open, then click on “Open FTP Site”.
ALMOST DONE! After clicking on “Open FTP Site,” you’ll see this popup for the second time.
Enter your username and password again and you will get this screen:
Scroll to the folder you will use for your The Polygon site. For example, if your site is called “My Theme,” scroll to that folder. Double-click on it to find three main folders inside: WP-Admin, WP-Content, and WP-Includes.
Double-click on WP-Content and find “Themes” inside. Double click on “Themes” to open it, then browse to The Polygon on your desktop.
Now, WAIT! Since you’re uploading via FTP you won’t put the entire The Polygon folder into the root files. You must UNZIP IT.
Double-click on The Polygon and drag the The Polygon folder (see below) into YourThemeName > WP-Content > Themes folder in the FTP files.
Once you finished copying the dragged files, CLOSE THE FTP ROOT FILES FOLDER AND THE PAGE FILES FOLDER OF YOUR FTP FILES, then go to your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Themes, and you'l be able to see The Polygon among your available themes. Click on The Polygon, and then on “Save and Activate”.
4. How to install bundled pluginsBack to top
In order to install the bundled plugins, click on the link Begin installing plugins within the notifier located at the top of admin page.
First, download and activate WooCommerce.
Then, if you want to install the Pre-Packaged plugins (like Ultimate Addons for Visual Composer, Visual Composer, ecc...), firstly you need to get the ZIP files you can find in the "plugins" folder inside the Yithemes package and then put them in "theme -> plugins" folder of the Nielsen directory via ftp. After this action, you can install the plugins from the "Install" link, as we will explain in this page.
This theme recommends the following plugins: Revolution Slider, WPBakery Visual Composer Ultimate Addons for Visual Composer, WooCommerce, YITH WooCommerce Added to Cart Popup, YITH WooCommerce Social Login and YITH Essential Kit for WooCommerce
5. How to install external pluginsBack to top
The zip package of the theme you have downloaded from your YIThemes account includes a zip folder with the following plugins: WP Bakery Visual Composer, Ultimate Addons for Visual Composer and Revolution Slider. Installation of WP Bakery Visual Composer is required if you want to benefit from all features of the theme, while the others are recommended but not essential. Before installing external plugins, please, be sure you have decompressed the zip folder "plugins" you find in yithemes package.
To install external plugins, go to WordPress section Plugins, click on Add New and then on Upload.
Click on "Browse Plugins" and then upload the zip file of the plugin you want to install.

STEP 1 - LICENSE KEY
You can find your licence key in the order confirmation email or in "My account > My licenses" on yithemes.com
