The BigMenu

Now that you have tweaked your pages, it’s time to learn how to build a unique menu or BigMenu.

1. Create a menu

In order to build a beautiful BigMenu, you will have to create a new menu. In the left side of the WP-Admin panel, click on Appearance and then on Menus

Now, click on Create a new menu on top of menu navigation bar to create a new menu. For this demonstration, we have called our new menu “bigmenu”.

**Important – use only lowercases.

Click on "Create Menu" button on the right to save the new menu. Check "Main Navigation" in Menu Settings.
07
Be sure to SAVE changes.

2. Enable Css Classes and Description

Now scroll up to “Screen Options” on top right of the Menu and click on the drop-down arrow: now, you should be able to see something like that:
07
No matter which items are checked, to create a BigMenu, you MUST click/check the CSS CLASSES and DESCRIPTION boxes.

CLICK on SAVE MENU and close the Screen Options view.

3. Insert the pages

Next, choose the Pages you want to show on your BigMenu. To do that, scroll to the bottom of your Menus page and find “Pages”. Select the Pages you want to show.
**Note - Sometimes only “Most Recent” pages are shown. Click on “View All” to show all your pages. Here is a screenshot of the pages we have added:

4. Create a BigMenu

Now we can begin working on the BigMenu.

Go back to your Menus page and scroll to the Links section on the left. Change URL to “#” and enter a label for the link in your menu. In our example, we will change the label to “Shop”.
07
Now, click on “Add to Menu”, and the entry “Shop” will appear on your menu.

Sort them as you want them to appear in your Navigation bar.

Next, click on the drop-down arrow of “Shop” icon, then find “CSS Classes” and type “bigmenu”.
07
You can also set a background image that you can upload from "image" field or set an icon to display next to the title link:
**Note – “Description” field will automatically be filled in.

07
07
Now, decide which pages you want to list under “Shop.” In our demonstration, we will begin with “Catalog Pages”.
07
After clicking on “Add to Menu,” the entry “Shop Pageappears on the menu, and we will be able to move it into “Shop”:
07
Now we can add some Sub-Categories under “Shop”. We will add "Shop Full Width" , "Shop Right Sidebar" , "Shop left Sidebar" , "Masonry Shop" and "Category Page".
07
Now we will add a new section called “Product Pages”:
07
Here you can see how our Menu looks like after adding to it "Product Page" and several Sub-Categories:
07
Now click on SAVE, then navigate to your Home Page. Here is an image of our new Navigation Bar with all the pages we’we chosen, and with a “Shop” BigMenu.
