In this section, you will learn how to set your site to Maintenance Mode (without locking yourself out) and activate a Child Theme.
1. Setting Your Site to "Pre-Launch"Back to top
To use YITH Pre-Launch, first of all you need to install it (click here to download it).
Setting Your Site to Pre-Launch – Your site may be up and running, but you’re probably not ready to have users register, bid or purchase.
To prevent these activities, just set your site to Maintenance Mode. On the left sidebar of your theme, find and click on“Appeareance”. Scroll down to “Pre-Launch” and click on it, you will see this:
***WARNING! To activate “Pre-Launch Mode”, set “Enable Pre-Launch” to "checked". But BEFORE YOU CLICK on SAVE, you MUST set Administrator to "checked" in “Roles” list. If you do not “allow” the administrator (YOU!) to access to the site, you will lock yourself out of your own site.
IF YOU ACCIDENTALLY LOCK YOURSELF OUT OF YOUR SITE, you'll have to submit a ticket in YIThemes support desk and ask for help getting back in.

2. Activating and Using the Child ThemeBack to top
USING THE CHILD THEME
While customizing your theme, you will make many changes. However, we always recommend you NEVER make changes to core files because each time a theme update is released, your changes will be over-written and you’ll have to start all over again.
For this reason, we’ve included a Child Theme identical to Remy Parent theme which allows you to make changes without risks that your hard work and customizations will be overwritten.
The Child Theme must be activated via FTP. Here you can see how:
First, open your FTP files. If you’ve forgotten how to do this, just follow the instructions in Step One, Item #7b of this manual to understand how to get to your FTP files.
Find your Remy Shop folder and double-click on it to find WP-Admin, WP-Content, WP-Includes.
Now, double-click on “WP-Content”, then double-click on “Themes” to find Remy folder:
Now, double-click to open “Remy”. Inside you'll find “remy-child” theme: drag and drop remy-child folder to your desktop.
Now, click on the GREEN “BACK” BUTTON on your FTP browser.
You should be back and see this:
Drag the child-theme from your desktop and drop it to your FTP files.
CAREFUL! Be sure that you DON’T DROP THE FOLDER INTO ANY OTHER FOLDER already there. The child-theme should stand alone, as you can see in the following image:
CLOSE YOUR FTP FILES, go to your WordPress Admin panel, click on “Themes”, and see Remy-Child as a theme option:
ACTIVATE YOUR Remy CHILD THEME by clicking on it: it will appear in the top of the page as your “current theme”. Then, click on “Activate” button.
All done! Now on to Step Four.
